Smileys for Mac - where?
Mac users will know that there's a little instant messaging application within the Mac OS called iChat. iChat is great for chatting to other Mac users and the latest version has a feature that lets you launch an AIM profile from iChat. Great if you use AIM, not so cool if you don't.
Of course you can also download the Mac versions of MSN Messenger, AIM and Yahoo Messenger - even Skype has a version for Mac users. In our experience the Mac versions often have reduced functionality e.g. MSN Messenger for Mac won't let you do chat with a web cam and features like skins and winks just don't exist.

What's in iChat?
iChat is more than instant messenger. That's just one feature...
- Video conferencing: the main purpose of iChat is video conferencing and that's what it's really good for
- Sharing files: a cool iChat feature is that you can drag and drop files into a chat to send them. No need to do menu, insert file etc - just drag and drop
- Mac smileys: because Mac refers to them as 'smileys' we will too. The Mac smileys are average, as you'll see from the screenshot below
- Display picture: change your profile picture - you could use one of our emoticon avatars
You can find out more about iChat here. iChat becomes much more feature rich with the Leopard OS. See more info about iChat for Leopard features here.

We think the Mac smileys are a very disappointing effort from Apple considering how good they are at design and creating a highly professional finish for the overall Mac experience.
Download link: MSN Messenger for Mac, Yahoo Messenger for Mac, AIM for Mac or Skype for Mac and get using emoticons for Mac.
All the emoticons we've mentioned in our emoticon style pages or showed you on our emoticon collection pages will work with the Mac versions of instant messenger too.
