The point of this 'Where to use' guide is to show you all the places where you can use emoticons so you get the most out of them. Maybe you'll learn something, maybe you won't...it will depend on how much of an emoticon addict you are.
We've always found that using emoticons adds another dimension to a chat. In fact we loved emoticons so much that we made a business creating them. Read more about our story here if you're interested. Why do we use smileys and emoticons? We make our friends laugh, sometimes we get some kudos if we use really cool emoticons and finally we make sure that our friends get the message - loud and clear. Without being face to face, it can be tough to get the message across. So we highly recommend using emoticons whenever you're chatting to someone online and you can't see their face.
PS. We should point out that when we talk about 'emoticons', we're referring to 'smileys' at the same time. To us they're almost the same thing - an image to express emotion. We give our opinion on the debate here.
